I sold the Hyundai, and had an urge to spend some of the money on something even more impractical. So I did.

This is an ancient Kawasaki Prairie 250 ATC. I paid $60 for it.

The seller says all it needs is a new stator, as the one on it is cracked.
The buyer says all it needs is 600cc’s of Honda.

This is the “Deathbike”. It’s a 1983(4?) Honda XL600R I got from the salvage yard I worked at for $100. A couple years later, I found out the original owner was killed by a drunk driver while riding this bike. Forks are fucked, frame’s bent, gas tank was destroyed, seat was trashed.

The heart still lives, though. It’s got good compression and it has spark. It just needs a home, which I’ve found.

After years of talking about it, the Honda Big Red 600R project will begin.

apparently it has a differential, thats nice. Actually it probably will make it 40% less death trap.

AWESOME! I love the franken-atv project idea - that’s probably way more motor than anyone ever even considered putting in that thing. My dad was super into ATVs for a while, up until I was about 8. He had an ATC 185, then a Big Red 200, and I think finally a 250R. He said the R was scary fast, and he was doing a lot of trail riding which it wasn’t suited for, so he sold it for a FourTrax 4x4.

I will do my best. Part of the problem is that the rear fenders were originally black. They just faded that badly.

So it’ll have to be repainted.

God, I was riding one of those trikes when the left tire went flat and it almost crushed my leg on a tree... be careful!
